Our Services to Advertisers

The People Shaping Progress online recruitment advertising facility is intended to offer a single, comprehensive point of advertising for jobs in the New Zealand Local Government sector.

We will accept job advertising on the People Shaping Progress Local Government Careers online job board, List Advertising and Trade Me Jobs for vacancies within the New Zealand local government sector posted by local authorities and their duly authorised agents or by local government sector organisations such as Local Government New Zealand and local government officer organisations such as SOLGM, INGENIUM, ALGIM, etc and the LGITO which are part of the local government sector.

All job advertisements registered in the facility will be posted on the Local Government Careers online job board and the Advertiser will then have the option to post the same job on List Advertising or Trade Me Jobs.

Registered New Zealand local authorities will also have access to other recruitment tools available in the system such as job seeker database searches, online application tools, and emailing of shortlisted candidates.

Advertising Services

People Shaping Progress Local Government Careers Online Job Board

The People Shaping Progress Local Government Careers online job board is your primary vehicle to advertise your job vacancies.

Job adverts will be displayed on the online job board using a regular ad template with the Council logo that is pre-loaded into the system. The Advertiser may choose to upload job descriptions, use the online application processing facility or redirect the jobseeker to the Advertiser's careers website.

Job adverts will be displayed online for 30 days or until the closing date as specified by the advertiser.

An email alert broadcasting the job vacancy will be sent to relevant registered jobseekers.

There is a cost to place job advert on the Local Government Careers online job board.

List Advertising

If the Advertiser has placed a job advert on the Local Government Careers online job board, the Advertiser has the option to advertise the same job on the Local Government Online email lists at an additional cost.

Selecting List Advertising will send the job advert directly to email lists of current local government employees working in areas relevant to the job. It will reach the desktop of passive and active job seekers who have the relevant skills, are familiar with the processes in the sector and have the sector experience that you may be looking for.

The job advert will be displayed on a regular People Shaping Progress template with Council logo that is already uploaded in the system. It will also be displayed under the Employment Opportunities section of the What's New bi-weekly e-zine with links to the People Shaping Progress Local Government Careers online job board.

*What's New is the e-zine newsletter that includes the current and recent local government related news. What's New is sent to all email list and other registered subscribers.

Trade Me Jobs Advertising

If the Advertiser placed a job advert on the Local Government Careers online job board, the Advertiser has the option to advertise the same job on Trade Me Jobs at an additional cost.

The job advert will be sent automatically to Trade Me Jobs board and will be posted online at the next automatic upload. (Please note, while ads are automatically uploaded to Trade Me Jobs, the ads may take up to 12 hours to appear on their site.)

The job advert will be online for up to 30 days.

Advertising Rates

• $100 (excl GST) for each job advertisement posted on the Local Government Careers online job board (mandatory)
• Plus $400 (excl GST) if you select the job advert to be on List Advertising (optional)
• Plus $88 (excl GST) if you select the job advert to be on Trade Me Jobs using the People Shaping Progress online recruitment advertising facility (optional)

Scenario 1:

Advertiser posts an Environmental Health Officer job on the online job board and wants the same advert to be on List Advertising, cost will be:

$100 + $400 = $500

Scenario 2:

Advertiser posts a Civil Engineering job on the online job board and wants the same advert to be on Trade Me Jobs (using the People Shaping Progress online recruitment advertising facility), cost will be:

$100 + $88 = $188

Scenario 3:

Advertiser posts a Programme Manager job on the online job board and wants the same advert to be on List Advertising and Trade me Jobs, the cost will be:

$100 + $88 + $400 = $588

Scenario 4:

Advertiser posts a GIS Analyst job on the Local Government Careers online job board alone, the cost will be:

$100

• All rates are excluding GST.
• These rates are valid from 2 February 2009. Users will be advised of any changes to the pricing for the Local Government Careers online job board and List Advertising.
• Trade Me Jobs current rate card price apply which is subject to change.
• Rates are non-commission bearing.

Invoices and Payments

A monthly invoice automatically generated by the People Shaping Progress Online Recruitment Advertising facility will be sent via email to the registered user. You can also view your monthly invoices online in the Account History section when you register into the system.

The invoice will have an itemised description of jobs posted by the Advertiser every month.

Payments should be made to Local Government Online Ltd on or before the date specified on the invoice.

Other Services

The People Shaping Progress online recruitment advertising facility has an email job alert function that sends out a notification about a new job to relevant jobseekers registered on the People Shaping Progress jobseeker database. All jobs posted on the online job board will also be promoted via this email job alert function.

All New Zealand local authorities will have free access to search the People Shaping Progress jobseeker database for candidates and shortlist those who meet set criteria (results are delivered anonymously). Once you have selected profiles that match your criteria, you can invite the selected anonymous candidates to contact you to discuss an opportunity. You will only get their name and contact details when they respond back to you.

This is only available to local authorities.

The online recruitment advertising facility also has functions that will enable all New Zealand local authorities and their duly authorised agents to load job descriptions and use the pre-screening questionnaire for free.

This assists you in managing the application process if you select the applications from jobseekers to be received using the People Shaping Progress recruitment facility.
