Working with People, Caring for Taranaki
Leading Flagship Programmes
Influential and Rewarding Executive Appointment
Taranaki is a prosperous and vibrant region which relies on its abundant natural and physical resources, particularly via dairy farming and the oil and gas industries, for its economic and social well-being. The Taranaki Regional Council (www.trc.govt.nz) works collaboratively with the Taranaki community to manage and protect the natural environment, manage biosecurity, civil defence, emergency management and land transport in the region. The Council's proud reputation derives from its proactive, co-operative and efficient work, encouragement of community participation and sound financial base.
The Director Operations provides strategic leadership in Biosecurity, Transport, Water Quality, Flood Management, Biodiversity and Land Management. Supported by a team of 35 staff, this is a key outward-facing, operational leadership role in the Council. As one of four direct reports to the Chief Executive you will actively contribute across the whole organisation and participate in diverse projects ranging from leading edge water and land management programmes, to challenging biodiversity issues.
To succeed you will need proven leadership experience, ideally from local or central government, or other infrastructural community serving bodies. Attributes sought include excellent influencing and relationship skills, collaborative management style, commercial discipline and drive to achieve, sound judgement and intellect, plus the ability to be innovative. Core values include a high level of integrity and a 'can-do' approach. Technical qualifications may be in agriculture, science or engineering, with an underpinning knowledge of resource management. This is your opportunity to join a well governed and led Regional Council in an attractively remunerated and influential leadership role.
