You will possess excellent people management, project management and relationship management skills, and demonstrate written communication skills of a consistently high standard. You will be familiar with working with and interpreting legislation and ensuring work processes are well-designed and correctly implemented.
As the Team Leader, Committee Advisors, you will:
Manage the Committee Advisors team, working to facilitate decision-making by Council’s governance bodies
Manage and contribute to projects, ranging from policy development in relation to governance and e-democracy, to process improvement in relation to ensuring efficient, legal and democratic decision-making
Provide advice and guidance to the Mayor and Councillors, senior managers and other Council staff on procedural, governance and committee management matter
Ensure Council’s governance bodies are administered in a timely, accurate and efficient manner
Provide administrative support to elected members
Be expected to deputise for the City Secretary as required.
In addition to this, the Team Leader, Committee Advisors will be expected to advise on improving the service provided to elected members, ensuring positive and open relationships are maintained with key stakeholders, as well as interpreting the law and guidance within which local governance and decision-making takes place.
Because some meetings take place in the evenings some flexibility in working hours is necessary.
