Did you know…

…that the team you’ll lead manages natural resources
that comprise 11% of the total land area of New Zealand?

The diversity of the environment your team is responsible for is second to none incorporating areas like Stewart Island, Milford and Doubtful Sounds and the Catlins. As a consequence the range of environmental issues dealt with is considerable. We’re starting preparation of our Second Generation Plan – a project you’ll spearhead. Managing an eight strong team you’ve a great blend of experienced planners, graduates keen to learn more and support staff who know their stuff.

Ideally you’ll be an experienced manager but if you’re a talented 2IC or Team Leader don’t be deterred from applying. We think you’ll find professional satisfaction here. Reporting to the Group Manager Environment and Community you’ll have extensive experience in resource management within a local government context and be familiar with NZ resource legislation. You’ll also be committed to enabling development while ensuring Southland’s unique environment is not compromised.

And the diversity isn’t just professional – you’ve got incredible lifestyle options here too. We’re a Council renowned for putting "People First", our staff amongst them.

You’re welcome to contact our Human Resources team at human.resources@southlanddc.govt.nz for more information. Alternatively download an application form from our website and forward your application to PO Box 903 Invercargill 9840. Applications close Monday 15 March 2010.
