The Northland Regional Council has a vacancy for a Hydrology/Groundwater Monitoring Officer. The primary purpose of the position is to help implement the Council’s groundwater and surface water monitoring programmes. The monitoring includes groundwater levels, groundwater quality, specific groundwater investigation, surface water flows, and compliance monitoring of resource consents for water takes. The position involves fieldwork, data processing and reporting. The position is with the Council’s Environmental Monitoring team based in Whangarei.

We are seeking an enthusiastic person with proven skills in hydrology/groundwater which may include flow groundwater investigations, gaugings, hydrology instrumentation and software, and telemetry systems. A tertiary qualification in hydrological sciences or similar is preferred. Applicants must also have a practical aptitude and possess good communication, interpersonal and computer skills.
