South Waikato District Council is a progressive, customer focused organisation dedicated to high levels of service in support of our community. An opportunity has arisen in our Information Services and Systems department to support Council’s Geographic Information System. The position of GIS analyst would suit a graduate with an excellent understanding of GIS theory and application, or a GIS professional looking to take ownership and help shape the direction of one of Council’s core systems.
Working largely with internal clients from our Environment, Assets, Community and Corporate groups, you will be responsible for GIS related service requests and maintaining Council’s GIS datasets to a high standard. You will be working with an innovative and proactive team using some of the latest technologies in support of the organisation.
You will be able to demonstrate a strong interest in GIS principles, having undertaken a GIS degree or related course of study. Ideally, successful applicants will have experience with one of the following GIS software suites: ArcGIS, Geomedia, or Mapinfo, and have an understanding of spatial analysis, cartography and data management.
If you are looking for a diverse mix of people and project opportunities to complement a varied and rewarding career, get in touch with us today.
Applications close at 4.00pm on Monday, 22 February 2010.
