The Northland Regional Council has a vacancy for an Environmental Monitoring Officer based at our Bay of Islands office at Opua. The purpose of the position is the investigation of environmental incidents, the compliance monitoring of resource consents and associated enforcement work. Undertaking workplace hazardous substances inspections as part of the Council’s contract to the Department of Labour. Some state of the environment monitoring.
We are seeking an enthusiastic person with an appropriate tertiary qualification in environmental science or similar. Applicants must also have good communication, interpersonal and computer skills. Previous environmental monitoring and enforcement experience is desirable, as is knowledge of the Resource Management Act.
