Forget traffic-jams and rat-races, come enjoy a better slice of life in Southland, and experience the ‘Kiwi Community Spirit’ the way it ought to be.
With a focus on “People First” at Southland District Council, we pride ourselves on really getting stuck in and making a positive difference, while enjoying a workplace environment that offers rewarding careers, competitive remuneration packages, as well as genuine training and development opportunities.
With a veritable selection of ski slopes, great schools, national parks, beaches, vineyards, sports facilities and cafés on your doorstep, with our relocation assistance you’ll find that having it all, when it comes to work or lifestyle, is only the beginning of your career at Southland District Council.
Southland District Council has the largest rural roading network in the country.
With a roading budget of about $24 million, we manage approximately 5000 kilometres of roads in some of New Zealand’s most beautiful country side. Our Council is proactive and uses leading edge innovative contract models which enable us to deliver best value for our ratepayers.
We are looking for an experienced roading engineer with asset management experience to fill this senior position. Reporting to the Group Manager Services and Assets, you will be required to develop strategies for the sustainable management of our roading, bridging and drainage programmes.
Representing Southland at a national level is an important component of the role as is relationship management with councillors, consultants and contractors. If you have a minimum of five years of roading asset management experience and would like to work for a progressive council where the guiding principle is “People First”, then we are keen to hear from you.
