Christchurch City Council is one of the South Island’s most diverse and multifaceted organisations with responsibility for delivering an extensive range of services to its ratepayers and the City.

 

Within the Council, the Community Support Unit is dedicated to delivering an extensive range of services in the areas of; Community Facilities, Strengthening Communities, Community Grants, Early Learning Centres and Social Housing.

 

Reporting to the General Manager Community Services, this role is responsible for providing exceptional leadership to the Community Support Unit • a team of over 100 (via 7 direct reports) - ensuring their successful engagement and motivation and ensuring that the Unit’s services and activities are comprehensively delivered across all areas.

 

The successful applicant will be tertiary qualified and must possess outstanding leadership/management skills and experience - ideally gained in a community oriented/multi-faceted role. This high profile and varied position will also require a collaborative approach, together with the ability to successfully manage and influence a wide range of internal and external relationships. Experience in effectively navigating a broad spectrum of political environments is also essential.
